Why buy a used EV in Barbados

Used electric vehicles can be an appealing way to switch away from petrol. Depreciation can make pre-owned EVs appealing, but value depends on the model, condition, battery health and asking price. Compare total costs and obtain an independent inspection before you decide.

The catch is that not every used EV is worth buying. Battery health varies, service history can be patchy, and cosmetic condition doesn't tell you much about the drivetrain. We can help you ask a supplier for a battery-health report, verified history and an inspection by a qualified EV technician. Availability of these records depends on the individual vehicle and seller.

Buyer's guide

What to look for in a used EV

Battery state of health. Ask for a recent battery-health report and find out how it was measured. Compare the actual battery condition with the vehicle's age, mileage, usable range and asking price rather than relying on one universal percentage rule.

Charging history. Ask the seller for available records. A battery-health test is more useful than assumptions about charging habits.

Software updates. Ask if the vehicle is eligible for updates and whether any known issues remain outstanding.

Tyre and brake wear. EVs are heavy — tyre wear matters. Regenerative braking reduces brake wear, so unusually worn pads may indicate other issues.

Warranty transfer. Check transferability directly with the manufacturer or supplier before buying.
